Additional Bonaparte's Gull shots

Its a bit rainy and wet here today, same as on Saturday gone when Mark Newsome (the finder) took the following shots of the Bonaparte's Gull at Whitburn Steel. The bird remains today but keeps moving about between the beach and pier to Roker to Whitburn Steel, some days its in the ploughed fields to the North of the village of Whitburn. Its mobile for sure! Just glad I managed to catch up with it on Friday evening, I think they are stunning birds.

Below are some shots of what we believe to be the same bird as above last year, it would make sense as the occurrence dates are about the same time this year as last. What is different is that this year the bird still has most of its summer plumaged head opposed to last year when the bird was pretty much in winter plumage (see below).

Stunning bird, I love them.

Until next time, Foghorn out!
